It was the last week of summer when we met a grandmother at the playground who told us about a lovely little watering hole she used to take her children to and still visits with her granddaughter. It sounded like a perfect small adventure, so we made time to visit before summer ended. There is an easy-access swimming area where she probably intended us to play, but our family’s adventurous spirit led us downstream to explore the falls.

And so summer came to an end and the boys returned to school. We will miss these carefree days of exploring new places with them, but we left with happy memories and a promise to find more small adventures together.
