Classic 4-Ingredient Guacamole Recipe for Quick Snacks

Many guacamole recipes online load the dip with tomatoes and an array of spices you may not have on hand. This version returns to the essentials: a simple, classic guacamole that’s fresh, healthy, and loved by everyone.

With just ripe avocados, lemon juice, red onion, and a pinch of salt, you get a creamy, bright guacamole that highlights the avocado’s natural flavor without unnecessary additions.

The perfect guacamole made with just four ingredients: healthy and delicious.

I wasn’t always a fan of guacamole. As a child I was put off by its color and texture and often chose pico de gallo instead. When I finally tried a pure, classic guacamole prepared with the right balance of ingredients, I immediately changed my mind.

This version relies on a simple ratio: creamy avocados, finely diced red onion for bite, a squeeze of lemon to brighten the flavors, and a touch of salt to enhance them. That’s all you need for a crowd-pleasing guacamole.

What you don’t need

This recipe intentionally omits tomatoes, cilantro, cumin, red peppers, and hot peppers to keep the flavor clean and straightforward. If you prefer some heat or extra aromatics, feel free to add diced jalapeño, red pepper flakes, or cilantro to taste. The base recipe, however, stands strong on its own.

For best flavor, refrigerate the guacamole for at least one to two hours before serving. Chilling allows the flavors to meld and results in a more rounded, cohesive dip.

Serve with tortilla chips or fresh vegetable sticks. It also makes a delicious spread for sandwiches or wraps.
