Rosé Wine Slushie Recipe for Ninja SLUSHi Machine

Nothing says summer cocktail like a Rosé Wine Slushie. This simple rosé slushie uses just three ingredients and is made in a slushie machine for the best texture — we used a Ninja SLUSHi, which produces a smooth, icy slush without diluting the drink with extra ice. If you prefer a fruit-forward variation, try a watermelon frosé slushie.

Home slushie machines have changed how we make frozen cocktails. Before these compact machines, slushies required lots of ice and a blender, which often watered down the drink. Modern slushie machines freeze the liquid directly, so you don’t add ice to the mix — in fact, using ice can prevent them from working properly.

If you’re experimenting with slushie-machine recipes (whether you own a Ninja SLUSHi or another brand), this rosé slushie is an easy place to start. Other fun slushie options include Aperol Spritz and Sauvignon Blanc slushies.

Rosé Wine Slushie Ingredients

img 36699 2
  • Rosé Wine – A dry rosé is recommended as a base; you can sweeten and balance it with juice.
  • Cherry Juice – Adds sweetness and berry flavor. Strawberry juice or another red-berry juice also works well and complements the wine’s natural fruit notes.
  • Lime Juice – Fresh lime brightens the slushie with acidity. Lemon can be substituted if needed.

How To Make Rosé Slushie

Alcoholic slushies generally take longer to freeze than nonalcoholic fruit slushes. Plan for up to 30 minutes for the first batch to reach the right texture.

  • Mix the wine, cherry juice, and lime juice in a large pitcher. Pour the combined liquid into your slushie machine.
  • Power the machine and choose the setting for alcoholic or “spiked” slush if available. Let it run for 20–25 minutes until the liquid becomes slushy.

Top off the machine as needed with pre-chilled mix. See the FAQ for troubleshooting tips.

Troubleshooting: If the slushie won’t form, two issues are most likely: the mixture lacks sweetness or the alcohol content is too high. Keep the blend under about 15% ABV and include enough sugar (from juice) — at least roughly 4% of the total volume. Add 1/4 cup of juice or small amounts of water until the mixture begins to slush.

Most wines range from about 11%–14% ABV, so if the slush isn’t firming, add more juice or 1/4 cup of water at a time until the desired texture is reached.

Important Tip

Keep it cold! Pre-mix the recipe in a pitcher and chill it before pouring into the slushie machine. Starting with cold ingredients speeds up the freezing process and lets you make subsequent batches more quickly.

Summer Cocktail Alternatives

If you want different flavors, consider other summer cocktails and slushies such as a kiwi French 77-inspired slushie, a watermelon cocktail, or a blueberry gin lemonade.

  • Watermelon cocktails are bright and refreshing and can be made non-alcoholic.
  • Blueberry gin with lemonade offers a slightly more elevated, cocktail-style slush when paired with a blueberry syrup.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it Slushy or slushie?

Both spellings are used. “Slushy” is common and “slushie” is a more informal variant. Either way, the drink tastes great.

Can I top off my slushie in the machine?

Yes. When the machine is about half empty, add more pre-chilled mixture. It typically takes about 10 extra minutes to return to the right texture.

What if my slushie isn’t reaching the right texture?

If it won’t freeze, either increase the sugar content (juice) or dilute the alcohol. Aim to keep the mix below roughly 15% ABV and ensure there’s enough juice to provide sugar—adding 1/4 cup of juice in small increments and waiting about 10 minutes between additions often solves the problem.
