What’s better than a perfectly light and fluffy gluten free biscuit? A perfectly light and fluffy gluten free biscuit smothered in gravy, of course! You’ll love this simple yet delicious recipe for Gluten Free Biscuits and Gravy.
A few months ago we declared August to be BISCUIT MONTH on our Facebook page, and your enthusiasm was wonderful. Thank you for sharing ideas and encouragement — you’re the reason Life After Wheat exists and we appreciate every one of you.
We already have a recipe for Gluten Free Biscuits, and this post pairs that with what we think is a simply magical biscuits-and-gravy recipe.

These EASY Gluten Free Biscuits use just four ingredients and take only minutes to prepare. They deliver a texture that’s light and tender — we still can’t believe how well they turn out. If you haven’t tried them yet, consider pairing them with the gravy below.
We also created a Copycat Cheddar Bay Biscuit recipe for Blendtec that’s popular at our house. The bright cheddar and warm spices add a nice flavor pop when you want a cheesy option.

Any of our biscuit recipes will work with the gravy. Our favorite for this combo is the easy 4-ingredient biscuit — fast, simple, and reliably good.
Now, on to the gravy. For a smooth, creamy gravy you’ll want a reliable gluten free flour to thicken it. Our go-to is gfJules; it acts like wheat flour in sauces and gravies without a gritty texture or off taste. Other good options we’ve used include Better Batter, Cup4Cup, and Grandpa’s Kitchen.

The gravy ingredient list is straightforward: gluten free sausage, gluten free flour, milk, and salt and pepper (we also like seasoned salt). Be sure any packaged ingredients, especially the sausage, are labeled gluten free — we used Jimmy Dean in this version.
We used 2% milk in our photos, though you can make the gravy richer by using whole milk or swapping 1/4 to 1/2 cup of the milk for evaporated milk or cream.
Season the gravy to taste. Seasoned salt adds depth, but plain salt and pepper works fine too. Adjust the pepper and seasoned salt to your preference.

If you’re new to gluten free cooking, this recipe is a great place to start. It’s simple, uses common pantry items, and comes together quickly. Serve these biscuits and gravy for breakfast, brunch, or dinner — they’re comforting any time of day.
