When the weather starts to cool, a mug of this pumpkin-spiced white hot chocolate is a welcome treat. We served this after an evening of sports, and it was a hit—rich, creamy, and gently spiced. It’s perfect after time at a pumpkin patch, a fall festival, or any outdoor activity that leaves you wanting something warm and comforting.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup pumpkin puree
  • 4 3-inch cinnamon sticks
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg plus additional if desired
  • Additional cinnamon sticks for serving optional
  • Whipped cream for topping optional

Instructions

  • Add milk, white chocolate chips, pumpkin puree, four 3-inch cinnamon sticks, ground ginger, and 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg to a 3-quart or larger slow cooker.
  • Heat on low for 2–3 hours. Stir every 10 minutes or so during the first hour to help the white chocolate melt evenly, then stir occasionally for the remainder of the cooking time.
  • To serve, ladle into mugs and top with whipped cream if desired. Grate additional fresh nutmeg over the top and add a cinnamon stick for garnish and a convenient stirrer—the pumpkin may settle slightly, and the cinnamon stick helps reblend the drink.
