How Pottery Barn Inspires Real Productivity and Home Action

We’re focusing on bathrooms this week. Gross, I know—but sometimes that’s exactly where the improvements need to start.

I love flipping through Pottery Barn catalogs and other home-advertising magazines. There’s something motivating about those crisp towels, potted plants, and gleaming faucets that pushes me to do a little something special for our bathrooms.

Reality usually sets in quickly: small budgets and busy schedules limit what we can accomplish. So today I’m aiming for a realistic upgrade — what I call “Get Real Spectacular.”

What is Get Real Spectacular? It’s about using what you already have and making it look its best. You don’t need a flawless, magazine-ready bathroom; you just need a space that’s clean, functional, and pleasant to use.

That said, inspiration from places like Pottery Barn motivates me to try small changes that make a difference. For today’s plan…

Simple Daily Challenge: Wash the bathroom mats, hand towels, washcloths, and bath towels. It’s a small task, but nothing refreshes a bathroom like clean, warm towels straight from the dryer. The fresh scent and soft texture make everyday routines feel a little more luxurious.

When laundering, consider these quick tips: use the appropriate detergent amount for your load size, avoid overloading the washer so towels rinse thoroughly, and add a short extra spin cycle if needed to reduce drying time. If towels feel stiff after washing, a half cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle helps remove residue and restores softness. Dry on a medium setting and remove promptly to prevent wrinkles and mildew.

Beyond towels, a few additional quick wins that don’t require much time or money:

  • Clear surfaces: put away toiletries and wipe counters with a gentle cleaner to instantly tidy the space.
  • Refresh textiles: rotate decorative mats or towels you already own to give the room a different look without spending anything.
  • Simple greenery: a small potted plant or a sprig from the garden can brighten a countertop and make the room feel fresher.
  • Polish fixtures: a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth makes faucets and mirrors gleam.

These small actions add up. You don’t need a complete renovation to make your bathroom more inviting—regular maintenance and a few thoughtful touches will get you there.

You rock, Mommas! Keep doing what you can, when you can, and enjoy the little wins.
